Objective #
This SOP outlines the steps to configure hour limits for officers within the administration tab of the Off Duty Blue application.
Key Steps #
Accessing the Administration Tab 0:01
- Navigate to the Administration Tab from your master admin screen.
- Stay on the Settings tab.
Understanding Limit Types 0:16
- There are two main types of limits:
- Global Limits: Applies to all details in the application.
- Advanced Limits: Specific to shift limit schedules (to be covered in another video).
Setting Officer Application Limits 0:44
- Limit the number of details an officer may apply to in a given period.
- When using this limit, it is recommended to set Auto Staffing to First Come First Serve for fair assignment of details.
Restarting the Clock for Applications 1:36
- Enable the option to restart the clock for officers when another officer is selected for a detail (this typically only applies if you are not using “applied date” auto-staffing.
Configuring Weekly Hour Limits 2:57
- Set limits for:
- Overtime hours
- Extra duty hours
- Combined limits for both types.
Choosing the Week Start Day 4:13
- Select the starting day of the week for hour limits (e.g., Sunday or Monday).
- Inform officers of the chosen start day.
Warning Officers of Hour Limit Exceedance 4:24
- The system will warn officers when applying for a detail that exceeds their limits.
- Require officers to provide a reason if they choose to proceed.
Administrator Notifications 5:08
- Administrators will receive notifications if assigning an officer exceeds their hour limits.
- Provide a reason for the assignment if it exceeds limits.
Auto Staffing Considerations 5:44
- Check the box to prevent officers from exceeding hour limits in auto staffing.
- Allow officers to be considered in auto staffing rankings while notifying administrators of limit violations.
Counting Up Shifts Against Hour Limits 6:57
- Optionally count any given up shifts against hour limits to discourage excessive applications.
Cautionary Notes #
- Ensure that the limits are clearly communicated to all officers to avoid confusion.
- Be cautious when setting up advanced limiting features; incorrect configurations can lead to issues in officer assignments.
Tips for Efficiency #
- Regularly review and adjust limits based on department needs.
- Keep communication open with officers regarding their hour limits and application statuses.
